Enhancing the quality of life in our community.
LEADERSHIP
VAMOS
The VAMOS Youth Mentorship Program was established to provide support for our young community members as they navigate social, emotional, and personal changes. It has six focus areas which are: Mental Health, Physical Health, Education, Career, Civic Engagement, and Life & Social Skills. It is an individualized guidance peer support program that aims to help young teens realize their true potential as they move from middle school, high school, and eventually college/early adulthood.

Helping Hands
Our Helping Hands program is our food pantry program. It was created with the intent to support families who experience food insecurity in McDowell County. McDowell has a population of 40,000 residents and 16 percent live below the poverty line. With Helping Hands we are able to provide food distribution, access to clothing, and hygiene & cleaning products.

Vida Activa
Vida Activa was started in Summer of 2021 to create opportunities for our community to be active, healthy, social, and recover from isolation caused by the pandemic. Along with that, this program also helps educate community members on healthy nutritious eating habits. This program has become a youth and family oriented program and has merged with the VAMOS youth program.
Be on the lookout for updates on when activities will occur!
